In
1996,
at
the
age
of
44,
I
began
painting
in
Oregon
on
boards
with
house
paint
colours
I
mixed
myself.
A
self-taught artist, my work is
now layers of acrylic on canvas
to achieve ribbons of colour
between objects and then hand
stamped words and phrases to
complete the pieces.
Everyday
items mixed with Paris grates,
crowns, chickens and chandeliers
delight me. I often think Matisse
is watching over my shoulder.
And, like him, the bulk of my
work is interior; I enjoy painting
chairs, plump pears and buckets
of flowers. I attempt daily to
share my joy through art.
I
am currently exploring using
mixed media in my art and certainly
have fallen in love with wax.
I don't like the word eucaustics...just
lovely, wonderfully fragrant
bee's wax.
I
am a lucky girl.
